Hilarity!

These people help decide our fate. Please. For God's sake vote. I don't care if you are in a majority Democratic or Republican state, and it seems pointless, all those votes add up to 1 president. You've seen where this could get us. Do you want a repeat of the last 8 years?

  2. I recall a conversation we had, not so many moons ago, at Quarry House. It was about the nature of racism in the US. Admittedly, I think it was the first time I ever saw you P.O.ed.
Me and Patrick (Patrick and I?) were of the attitude that racism had undergone a subtler form. You, understandably, concluded that there is nothing subtle about racism. You cited an age gap as key to our positions. Which is probably true.
I think age is also abetted by another circumstance. Regional racism, I'll call it, has different forms. (I know, I know, here goes Troy blaming the South for all of America's problems again --- but hear me out.) Profiling in LA isn't the same as profiling in DC. ignorance in Ohio doesn't bear the same markings as ignorance in Maryland. Racism takes many shapes and forms. Admittedly, people in and around major cities are more intimidated by reprisal for discrimination than they are in South Carolina. I think this is indicated largely by the voting divide that stretches across this country every 4 years --- but particularly this year. Look at the red and blue maps on TV. Only parts of America are ready...the rest of the country is still, stubbornly, holding onto it's old ways. If Obama wins (which barring any Florida-styled tom foolery, seems likely) It'll be a step in the right direction, but truth be told...as Ohio proves...it'll always be us versus them.
