At this point, the concept of the comic book movie is old hat. While I'll probably never tire of them, I can completely understand joblo being sick of their inevitable arrival every summer. Which is why I'm always happy to see a comic book film that puts the genre on it's @$$...challenging expectations and cliches.
Case in point: Kick Ass. From director Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Stardust) and, pessimist/comic scribe, Mark Millar (Ultimates, Wanted), it's based on a superhero comic that is equally a send-up on the genre and an homage.
